Abstract:A method is described for the determination of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, inorganic sulphur, boron, manganese and zinc in leaves by direct-reading vacuum-emission spectrometry. The ashed samples are diluted with graphite and cellulose. Potassium chloride is added as a spectroscopic buffer and germanium dioxide as an internal standard and the samples are pressed into pellets suitable for excitation. Potassium is determined by flame-photometry.
