“…An interdisciplinary 1 approach was central to the Future Seas project as it: (1) expanded the boundaries of the futures we could explore (beyond disciplinary perspectives of scientists and/or sectarian approaches from different industries); (2) permitted participants to conceptualise shared visions of the future and co-design transformative pathways to achieving those futures (Bai et al 2016 ); (3) allowed us to explore the interactions between marine ecosystems and other SDGs; and (4) supported the development of new relationships among researchers from different disciplines and career stages, driving cross-disciplinary learning (Table 1 B).
