-The objective of this study was to characterize the floristic composition, vegetation structure and ecological group of tree species in a cerradão forest (Cerrado biome) of Palmas, Tocantins State, Brazil. A forest inventory was performed in an area of 10.15 hectares, using systematic sampling with plots of 400 m², in which all standing trees, alive and dead, that had diameter at breast height (DBH) ≥ 5 cm were sampled and identified. A linear plateau regression model (LPR) was used for sample sufficiency analysis. The Shannon index (H') was used for assess the floristic diversity, and the Importance Value Index (IVI) for assess the horizontal structure. The forest was classified in three strata according to vertical structure analysis. The LPR showed that the sampling size was adequate. The predominate species in the area were Myrcia splendens, Emmotum nitens and Qualea parviflora, and species from the families Fabaceae and Chrysobalanaceae. The pioneer (613 individuals ha -1 ) and climax (530 individuals ha -1 ) species were the predominating groups. Regarding the richness index, the number of climax (57 species) and pioneer (25 species) species stood out. The alpha floristic diversity was 3.35 nats individuals -1 and the Pielou equability value J = 0.76. The diametric distribution showed a negative and balanced exponential pattern. Regarding the vertical stratification, the smallest amount of individuals was in the upper stratum (13%) and the highest in the mid stratum (63%) and in the lower stratum (24%). The use of floristic composition tools with horizontal and vertical structure analysis was effective for understand the tree community, which may be considered structured and diverse, thus able to restructure possible disturbances when preserved.Keywords: Floristic diversity. CARACTERIZAÇÃO FLORÍSTICO-ESTRUTURAL E GRUPO SUCESSIONAL DE ESPÉCIES ARBÓREAS NO BIOMA CERRADO DO ESTADO DE TOCANTINS, BRASILRESUMO -Objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar a composição florística, a estrutura da vegetação e os grupos ecológicos das espécies arbóreas em área de cerradão em Palmas, Tocantins. Foi realizado um inventário florestal em área de 10,15 hectares, utilizando amostragem sistemática com parcelas de 400 m², onde foram amostradas e identificadas todas as árvores vivas e mortas em pé, com DAP ≥ 5 cm. Na análise da suficiência amostral utilizou-se a regressão linear com resposta em platô (REGRELRP ). No quesito riqueza, as espécies clímax sobressaíram (57 espécies), pioneiras (25 espécies). A diversidade alfa florística foi de 3,35 nats indivívideos -1 e o valor de equabilidade de Pielou J = 0,76. A distribuição diamétrica apresentou comportamento exponencial negativo e balanceada. RESUMO:A análise do estabelecimento inicial das mudas no campo constitui etapa fundamental para a seleção de espécies arbóreas nativas com maior potencial de se desenvolverem em condições adversas, a exemplo daquelas encontradas em ambientes perturbados. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a sobrevivência e os padrões de crescimento de espécies florestais nativas de diferentes grupos ecológicos crescendo em área alterada no Amazonas. O experimento foi instalado em delineamento de blocos casualizados com onze espécies (seis espécies pioneiras -P e cinco espécies não pioneiras -NP), cinco repetições e espaçamento 3 × 2 m. Depois de dez meses do plantio, foram observadas taxas de sobrevivência superiores a 80% para a maioria das espécies nos diferentes grupos ecológicos, à exceção de Sclerolobium paniculatum (40%) e Cedrela odorata (67%). As espécies com maiores valores de incremento em altura e diâmetro foram: Ochroma pyramidale e Trattinnickia rhoifolia (P), Parkia velutina, Hymenaea courbaril, Cedrela odorata e Endlicheria anomala (NP). Os maiores incrementos em área de copa foram observados em Sclerolobium paniculatum, Trattinnickia rhoifolia e Enterolobium schomburgkii (P) e Hymenaea courbaril (NP). As espécies florestais estudadas possuem alta taxa de sobrevivência, porém apresentam padrões distintos de crescimento, os quais deverão ser considerados na definição das espécies a serem utilizadas em futuros programas de reflorestamento de áreas alteradas no Amazonas. RESUMO:A variação de altitude e a proximidade de corpos hídricos influenciam a composição e estrutura de assembleias de palmeiras na Amazônia. O presente estudo teve como objetivo compreender os efeitos desses gradientes ambientais na composição florística e estrutura das assembleias de palmeiras arbóreas nos municípios de São João da Baliza (A1) e Caroebe (A2), em Roraima. Foram mensuradas as palmeiras com estipe aéreo de diâmetro altura do peito à 1,30 m (DAP) > 2 cm, em 10 amostras de 20 x 50 m. Foram observados 168 indivíduos, distribuídos em sete gêneros e dez espécies. Em A1 (altitude = 141,0 ± 12,8 m; proximidade da água = 3,2 ± 0,1 km), Astrocaryum gynacanthum e Euterpe precatoria apresentaram os maiores valores de importância (VI). Em A2 (altitude = 181,2 ± 4,3 m; proximidade da água = 0,5 ± 0,1 km), Oenocarbus bataua e Euterpe precatoria foram superiores (VI). Dois grupos florísticos de palmeiras separam as áreas amostradas (em torno de 63%) associados principalmente ao efeito da proximidade da água. A compreensão dos efeitos de gradientes ambientais na composição e estrutura das assembleias de espécies de palmeiras contribui na avaliação do potencial do manejo extrativista de produtos florestais não madeireiros na Amazônia.Palavras-chave: Amazônia, análise multivariada, Arecaceae, diversidade, Euterpe precatoria.Effects of environmental gradients in phytosociology of assemblages of palms in southeast of Roraima, Brazil ABSTRACT: The variation of altitude and proximity to watercourses influence the composition and structure of palm tree assemblages in Northern Amazon. Two floristic groups of palm trees separating the sampled areas (around 63%) related mainly to the effect of the proximity of water. Understanding the effects of environmental gradients in the composition and structure of the assemblages of palms helps in assessing the potential of extractive management of non-timber forest products in the Amazon.
