First Report of a New Isolate of Metarhizium rileyi from Maize Fields of Quivicán, Cuba

Abstract: (Farlow) Samson is an important entomopathogenic fungus of more than 30 species of Lepidoptera larvae. The aim of this research was to characterize isolate of from Quivicán, Cuba on the basis of morphological and molecular approaches. “…Metarhizium rileyi is a widely occurring pathogenic fungus that predominately infects Lepidoptera, with around 60 known susceptible species (Fronza et al, 2017). M. rileyi occurs in the United States and South America, however, its prevalence is low and documented cases of it infecting fall armyworm in the field in its native region are rare (Álvarez et al, 2018; Fronza et al, 2017; Ignoffo & Garcia, 1985).
