Final report on the APMP comparison of capacitance at 10 pF: APMP.EM-K4.1

Abstract: A comparison of capacitance at 10 pF was conducted between thirteen participating laboratories from the Asia-Pacific region. Measurements were made between 2004 and 2006. The behaviour of the travelling artefact was consistent with a steady linear drift at a rate of approximately 0.1 µF/F per year. Despite the wide range of capabilities within the region, the results showed good agreement between all but one of the participating laboratories.Main text. “…Thirteen national laboratories participated in APMP.EM-K4.1 KC [14] and APMP.EM-S7 SC parallel comparisons [15] from June 2003 to May 2006 (35 months). The Andeen-Hagerling AH11A fused silica measurement standard of capacitance of 10 pF (APMP.EM-K4.1) and of 100 pF (APMP.EM-S7) at a frequency of 1 kHz and 1.592 kHz was used for the comparisons.…”

“…However, in the majority of cases, when processing the results of comparisons, applying these generalized approaches is rather difficult in practice, and sometimes impossible. Therefore, the clarification of these approaches to determine the largest consecutive subset [14] and special examples, such as the model of choice in the average value of inconsistent data are developed [15]. Nevertheless, the task of processing the results of comparisons is still completely not solved.…”

“…The aforementioned comparison became the basis for conducting similar assessments within the framework of various RMO in 2003-2013. In the framework of the RMO of the European countries, there were checks for the capacitance of 10 pF [15], the RMO of the Americas -for a capacity of 10 pF [16] and a capacitance of 100 pF [17]. In the framework of COOMET, the NMI of Ukraine participated in the surveys: for a capacitance of 10 pF at frequencies of 1 kHz and 1.592 kHz [18], for a capacitance of 100 pF at frequencies of 1 kHz and 1.592 kHz [19] and for capacitances of 10 pF and 100 pF at a frequency of 1 kHz [20].…”
