“…The clinical description and the histologic characteristics were later refined in a larger case series by Enzinger, in which the name fibrous hamartoma of infancy was coined [8]. In these initial case series, as well as in subsequent ones, these tumors most frequently occur in otherwise healthy males under 1 year old [2,5,6,8,18]. The majority of lesions occur above the waist with a predilection for the shoulder girdle.…”

“…Hamartomas usually occur as a painless mass and rapid growth may be seen in some cases. Familial characteristics or association with syndromes could not be demonstrated (1,4). Hamartomas can reach a diameter of 15 cm, but they are usually 2.5-5 cm in diameter (3).…”

“…Hamartomas can reach a diameter of 15 cm, but they are usually 2.5-5 cm in diameter (3). Differentiating this tumor-like mass from other pathologies including lymphadenomegaly, sarcoma, lipoma, hemangioma, neurofibroma, dermatofibroma or teratoma by detailed investigation is essential in terms of treatment approach (1,(3)(4)(5).…”

“…Fibrous hamartoma of infancy (FHI) is a rare, benign hamartoma, which usually presents as a firm, asymptomatic, slowly growing subcutaneous nodule. 1 Most cases present as solitary masses without epidermal changes, but a few cases have been reported with multiple separate synchronous lesions and overlying skin changes. 2 The histopathological features are composed of three characteristic components in varying proportions: fibrous trabeculae, a nest of undifferentiated round to plump spindle-shaped cells, and mature adipose tissue.…”

“…2 The histopathological features are composed of three characteristic components in varying proportions: fibrous trabeculae, a nest of undifferentiated round to plump spindle-shaped cells, and mature adipose tissue. 1,2 In some cases, blood vessels were prominent, especially in myxoid areas. 3 To the best of our knowledge, there have been only two cases of FHI with multiple nodules and overlying hypertrichosis.…”
