Fault diagnosis for a class of descriptor linear parameter‐varying systems

Abstract: In this paper, a model-based fault estimation method for a particular class of discrete-time descriptor linear parameter-varying systems is developed. The main contribution of this work consists in the design of an observer that performs simultaneously both, the states estimation and the fault magnitude vectors, considered as unknown inputs. The conditions for the existence of such observer are given. Such conditions guarantee the observer stability and they are proved through a Lyapunov analysis combined with… Show more

“…The use of such Adaptive Polytopic Observer is motivated by the fact that, if a fault occurs, it is important to quickly detect and estimate it in order to preserve the system performance in spite of the presence of fault. Moreover, this APO is able to estimate timevarying fault which was neither possible with our previous paper [39] nor with [45]. Stability analysis and sufficient conditions are obtained with the use of Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) under equality constraint.…”

“…Some previous Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) techniques presented in Astorga-Zaragoza et al [20,45] and in Hamdi et al [39] can only deal with constant faults for LPV descriptor systems.…”

“…Roughly speaking, the feature is to understand the overall system behavior by a set of local linear models scheduled by convex weighting functions. Taking the polytopic LPV representation, several attempts have been oriented to the diagnosis of nonlinear systems; see, for instance, [24][25][26][27][28]. More recently, [29] addresses the problem of simultaneous actuator and sensor faults estimation for the polytopic LPV systems.…”

“…The aim of this work is to develop a fault estimation method for discrete-time descriptor systems. To achieve this objective, at first a model transformation based on Astorga-Zaragoza et al (2012) is made to estimate simultaneously states and faults. In the second part of this paper, we propose a method for obtaining dynamical observers structure, with the simultaneous estimation of states and unknown inputs.…”
