Factors of investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Algeria

Abstract: Our paper aims to identify the most important factors determining companies’ decision to invest in the energy transition in Algeria. Energy transition has been many governments’ main topic of interest over the last decades, climate change has led many of them to establish long-term plans for a successful energy transition; these plans aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions following the guidelines of the COP21. Through a quantitative approach, we have addressed a questionnaire to different companies operating … Show more

“…The high level of domestic consumption despite the dramatic increase in global oil prices is due to the high oil revenue and large fuel subsidies. Saudi subsides have registered an increase from US$2 billion and US$3 billion in gasoline and diesel in 2004 to US$14 billion and US$15 billion in 2012 (Charles, Moerenhout, & Bridle, 2014;Chikhi et al, 2022). As a result of the large fuel subsidies, the domestic prices of fuel have for long time been of the lowest in the world.…”

“…In this way, the farmer wants to ensure additional security by taking additional services from insurance companies [ 31 ]. The reason for this is climate change [ 50 ], which is increasingly affecting agricultural production. Based on these reasons, future research should consider using an adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) since algorithms applying this system have proven to be efficient in decision support [ 51 ].…”

“…Wind turbines possess more power than solar panels, so wind energy is used to produce high-capacity electricity. However, wind turbines depend on wind, while solar panels can generate electricity throughout the day (Chygryn et al, 2021;Soulaf et al, 2022). Besides, some countries have greater potential for generating energy from the sun, while others have wind or hydropower.…”
