Consequently, the use of herbs in aromatherapy dates to around 1200 BC and these have been used in ancient civilizations for medical purposes, among others. 14,15 According to National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), Americans spend more than $30.2 billion per year on aromatherapy, as well as global spending is expected to grow to $5 trillion by 2050; showing how this approach has gained acceptance and popularity recently. Aromatherapy uses essential oils (EOs) to cause a positive effect on mood, behavior, and wellness, in fact, several investigations have evaluated the therapeutic effects of EOs in mental health. However, further studies are needed to support the use of EOs in the treatment of mental health disorders. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil on anxiety, depression, and sleep quality. MATERIALS AND METHODS Plant materialFresh leaves of Rosmarinus officinalis were obtained from a local market and verified by Segundo Leiva Gonzales, Biol, and deposited at the Herbarium Antenor Orrego (HAO) of Antenor Orrego University.

Oral health is crucial for the overall well-being and quality of life, and nurses play a significant role in promoting it. This study assessed the oral health knowledge of fourth-grade nursing degree students. Seventy-two students completed a questionnaire covering sociodemographic variables, oral health-related factors, knowledge about oral health, and perceptions of its importance and learning experiences. The results showed that 83.3% of students attended regular dental check-ups for preventive purposes, and 55.6% had visited a dentist during the last year. Most of the students reported experiencing cavities (66.7%) and undergoing orthodontic treatment (54.2%). The average knowledge score in oral health was 6.4 out of 10, and students recognized the importance of oral health in the nursing role. However, their knowledge acquired during their nursing degree scored relatively low, being 2.5 out of 5. Notably, students who valued problem-based learning achieved higher knowledge scores (p < 0.05). Overall, fourth-grade nursing students demonstrated a moderate level of oral health knowledge. Improving oral health education within nursing curricula, particularly through problem-based learning, is essential to enhance their preparedness in addressing oral health issues effectively. This study was not registered.

El consumo de tabaco es una de las problemáticas de mayor crecimiento a nivel mundial, la ingesta excesiva de este producto genera problemas de salud como cáncer, enfermedades cardiacas, enfermedades pulmonares, entre otras. El consumo de tabaco se puede relacionar con varios factores como: familia, amigos, consumo de otras sustancias, rasgos de personalidad este último ya que determinan la forma de actuar del individuo frente al ambiente, es por esto que el objetivo de la investigación es determinar la relación entre rasgos de personalidad y consumo de tabaco en estudiantes universitarios. El enfoque de la presente investigación es cuantitativo, de tipo no experimental, descriptiva con un nivel correlacional y de corte transversal. Para la evaluación de los rasgos de personalidad se utilizó el Cuestionario de Evaluación IPDE, y para el consumo de tabaco se empleó la Escala de Clasificación de Consumidores de Cigarrillo (C4). Como resultado principal se evidencia que dentro de los consumidores los hombres se encuentran en un nivel alto y moderado de consumo de tabaco. Sin embargo, no se encuentran diferencias estadísticamente significativas p>0,01 del consumo de tabaco en cuanto al sexo. Por lo tanto, el consumo de tabaco se relaciona con otras variables de estudio.
