Facile preparation of MIL-88B-Fe metal–organic framework with high peroxidase-like activity for colorimetric detection of hydrogen peroxide in milk and beer

Abstract: Hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) was widely applied as the bactericide and bleach agent in food industry due to its strong oxidation, whose residue had also posed a hazard to public health at the same time. Therefore, it was indispensable to establish a simple, highly effective and accurate method for the detection of H 2 O 2 in foods. Herein, the MIL-88B-Fe metal-organic framework (MOF) was prepared by a facile solvothermal process and utilized as the peroxidase mimic for H 2 O 2 detection. The resultant MIL-88B-… Show more

“…We have reported the photocatalytic degradation of fucoidan and chondroitin sulfate with TiO 2 as well as H 2 O 2 , and the products of 3~5 kDa were obtained after a 6 h reaction [ 25 , 26 ]. As a strong oxidizing agent, H 2 O 2 could promote the oxidation degradation [ 37 ], but it is harmful to health and unfriendly to environment [ 38 ]. Moreover, its addition could increase the production cost.…”

“…12 Xu et al fabricated a colorimetric sensor based on an MIL-88B-Fe MOF as a peroxidase mimic for H 2 O 2 with a low detection limit of 2 μM. 13 In order to eliminate the influence of external factors, such as background interference and material properties, on the accuracy of electrochemical or colorimetric assay, dual-signal determination systems have been employed in the field of analysis because they can self-calibrate the results. 14 Currently, electrochemical/colorimetric dual-signal systems have attracted increasing attention owing to their characteristics of high anti-interference ability and rapid reaction.…”
