Extrahepatic and Intrahepatic Human Portal Interstitial Cajal Cells

Abstract: Portal interstitial cells of Cajal (PICCs), acting as vascular pacemakers, were previously only identified in nonhumans. Moreover, there is no evidence available about the presence of such cells within the liver.
