Experimental assessment of regenerated lube oil in spark-ignition engine for sustainable environment

Abstract: Lube oils are the viscous petroleum products used in automobiles to reduce the friction. The eventual fate of lube oil is either incineration or dumping off into ground, but these resources cannot be disposed off easily due to their libellous effects on environment. This article aims to study the regeneration of deteriorated oil and impact of regenerated oil on engine performance and engine emissions. The effectuality of regeneration is studied by comparing the results of the key parameters (specific … Show more

“…TAN is proportional to the oxidation of lubricant oil and it is also responsible for changing chemical composition and physicochemical properties of lubricant oil. 70 Flash point is minimal threshold temperature at which the vapours of lubricant oil will instantly combust once provided with an ignition source. ASTM D92 standard was followed to measure the flash point of lubricant oils.…”

“…Moreover, doping of Sm ions substituted the Ce ions and volume expansion [28]. This volume change may also occur because of the mism ionic radii of the host and the dopant material [23,29]. The magnified (002) peaks for all the prepared compositio BaCe0.7-xSmxZr0.2Y0.1O3-δ are shown in Figure 3.…”

“…In providing the services mentioned, the properties of lubricating oil alter significantly from the optimum values due to fluctuations in temperature and contamination by dust, metal pieces, and soot. Researchers have extensively used the additive method over the past few years to mitigate this issue [2][3][4]. The engine oil, being in operation for a specific time, must be periodically changed to ensure efficient performance.…”
