Experience-Based Knowledge Representation: Soeks

Abstract: When managers make decisions, they use previous, similar, or equal experiences to help themselves in a new decision-making situation. Thus, keeping record of previous decision events appears to be of the utmost importance as part of the decision making process. For us, every formal decision event has to be collected and stored as experienced knowledge, and any technology able to do this will allow us to improve the decision-making process by reducing decision time, as well as by avoiding duplication in the proc… Show more

“…It has been developed to acquire and store formal decision events in an explicit way (Sanin and Szczerbicki 2009). It is a model based upon available and existing knowledge and must adapt to the decision event it is built from (i.e., it is a dynamic structure that depends on the information provided by a formal decision event; Sanin and Szczerbicki 2007); besides, it can be represented in Extensible Markup Language (XML) or Web Ontology Language (OWL) as an ontology in order to make it transportable and shareable (Sanin andSzczerbicki 2006, 2007).…”

“…This is what we call formal decision events (Sanin and Szczerbicki 2009;Sanin et al 2010). All of these formal decision events are usually disregarded and forgotten once the decision is made, which means that the decision-making experience is not stored.…”
