“…In Padua and the surrounding alluvial plain, the fluvial sediments deposited during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) were cut at the end of the glaciation by incised valleys with a depth of 10–15 m (Mozzi, Ferrarese, & Fontana, ). The same erosive phase occurred in the nearby Piave and Tagliamento megafans (Carton et al., ; Fontana, Mozzi, and Bondesan, , ; Fontana, Monegato et al., ), and other megafans along the southern Alpine piedmont (Fontana, Mozzi, & Marchetti, ). As for the study area, these valleys were completely filled by Brenta River sediments during the latest Pleistocene and early to middle Holocene, resulting in the present low‐gradient alluvial landscape (Cucato et al., ; Mozzi et al., 2010; ).…”
