Show more

“…In an English cohort with more than 23.000 T1DM patients, CAD was responsible for 8% of deaths among men and 11% of deaths among women under 40 years old [26]. This study and other data also demonstrate the impact of T1DM on the mortality of young individuals [27], specifically female patients. The detection of CAD among women is crucial because 40% of all coronary events affecting female patients lead to death [28].…”

“…In Brazil, another study done with type 1 DM patients has observed an extremely low HPT prevalence, around 0.8%. 35 However, the patients were considerably young, around 17 years old (12-25 year-old patients). In that study, after a follow up of five years the patients who had BP levels in the higher limit within normality (pre-hypertensive) had already presented a bigger chance of developing HPT (RR= 3.2 CI95% 0.8-12.3, P = 0.09).…”

In a prospective cohort of type 1 DM patients, we have demonstrated that BP values in the higher limit within normality were associated to DR development.…”

“…People with diabetes and cardiovascular disease have worse prognoses, with lower survival in the short term, greater risk for disease recurrence and worse response to the treatment proposed (20)(21)(22) .…”
