Abstract: Stability strengths of stiffened deck-type arch bridges have the potential to assist designers in better understanding the ultimate strength behavior of arch bridges, thus leading to the more economical, rational, and reliable arch bridge structures. Instabilities of overall buckling and local member buckling are examined in this paper. Based on the concept from limit state philosophy, a new reliable design equation is proposed which satisfied all the stipulated in the deck-type steel arch bridges.
