“…Chubs above 60 mm in fork length were marked with Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags (Trovan ID-100A, 2.12 × 11.5 mm, RFID Systems LTD, Melton, United Kingdom). PIT tags were previously tested in the laboratory, and found to be retained and have little or no effects on survival, growth and swimming performance of chub (Pires et al, 2010b). Smaller chubs were not marked because sufficiently small PIT tags were unavailable and because handling small fish in the field could result in high mortality risk.…”
