Abstract: This paper presents a novel method for the calculation of eddy current loss in coreless stator axial field permanent magnet (AFPM) machines based on a universal parametric magnetic network model. To account for threedimensional field effects in an AFPM machine, a multilayer modeling method is used to estimate both the axial and tangential magnetic field component in the air gap.
