Evaluating Effective Teacher Talk by Using China’s Middle School English Textbook as A Case

Abstract

One big challenge for novice teacher is to grade their teacher talk which should be intelligible to beginners or lower-intermediate learners in English as a foreign language (EFL) Classroom. This essay evaluates effective teacher talk by demonstrating two lead-in activities together with instructions based on China's English textbook. It has two parts with part A illustrating teacher talk transcript and the next part giving rationale and evaluation. Hopefully teachers could be benefited from the teaching implications from this writing.
