Evaluating different methods of serum collection to detect failed transfer of passive immunity in newborn calves via refractometry

Abstract: Graphical Abstract Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the necessity of centrifuging blood samples and to compare 4 different types of serum collection to detect failed transfer of passive immunity (FTPI) in dairy calves. All different types of serum collection showed high correlations and good test characteristics compared with the gold standard. In conclusion, all 4 methods are suited to evaluate FTPI.
