Show more

“…This is to the opinion of [13] that soil can be categorized as having saline content if it has passed the Electrical Conductivity test and produces a value of more than 4 dS/meter. This is also supported by the opinion of [14] that the salinity content of 8.19 dS/m belongs to the high salinity criteria.…”

“…Sweet corn can grow optimum at rhizospheric temperatures in the range of 21-30 o C [69,70], as long as peanuts need an optimal temperature of 20 -30 o C [11], soybeans at 25 o C [30,71], red beans at a temperature of 16-24 o C [72], cowpeas at a temperature of 18 o C [73], and mung beans approximately 15 o C [74]. Intercropping can increase shade in the planting system compared to monoculture corn, reduce water evaporation, conserve soil moisture and improve soil fertility to increase yields [75].…”

“…The saturation rate of photosynthesis of crop group C 3 , such as legume, is achieved at a lower light intensity than crop C 4. The level of light saturation for individual leaves of crop group C 3 is conducted in the range of 50% total light [30]. The rooting system of sweet corn and legumes is also different to avoid nutrient competition in the root part of the crop [31].…”

“…This condotion can be happened because during the age of 45 DAP, plant height of corn is more than 100 cm, while plant height of rice crop is less than 60 cm, so that both of rice crop varieties were shaded. According to [12], The rice crop which are shaded by corn in the rice-corn intercropping system shown on the lower the sunlight received by the rice plants, the more dense the level of shade will cause the growth and yield of rice become to decrease. The high population density of plant is not always followed by increasing the yield, due to the level of competition inter individual plants also increase.…”
