Euschistus heros mass rearing technique for the multiplication of Telenomus podisi

Abstract: -The objective of this work was to improve the mass rearing technique of Euschistus heros in laboratory. Nymphs and adults were reared at densities 100, 200, 300 and 400 eggs per Petri dish (9 cm diameter), and at 50, 100, 150 and 200 couples per rearing cages (900 mL), respectively. Survival rate of immature stages and survivorship and reproduction of adults were determinated. Survivorship of nymph to adult was the highest (89%) at density 100 eggs per dish. Adult survivorship was independent of density, and … Show more

“…Chocorosqui & Panizzi (2008) (Fig 1). These results demonstrate that E. heros can keep their egg production high over a period of 30 days, as also observed by Peres & Corrêa-Ferreira (2001) and Silva et al (2008). On the other hand, N. viridula and D. melacanthus decreased their fecundity during the last 10-Means (n = 3) followed by the same letter in each column do not differ signi icantly using the Tukey test (P > 0.05); ns non signi icant.…”

“…Since then, new stink bugs eggs collected in the field have been added annually. The insects were maintained in controlled environment rooms (26 ± 2ºC, 60 ± 10% RH and a 14-hour photoperiod) according to a breeding method modified from Silva et al (2008). After hatching, the nymphs were stored in covered crystal-polyester 11 x 11 x 3 cm boxes until they reached the 4 th instar.…”
