At the end of 2019 a novel coronavirus (COVID‐19) was identified in China. The high potential of human to human transmission led to subsequent COVID‐19 global pandemic. Public health strategies including reduced social contact and lockdown have been adopted in many countries. Nonetheless, social distancing and isolation could also represent risk factors for mental disorders, resulting in loneliness, reduced social support and under‐detection of mental health needs. Along with this, social distancing determines a relevant obstacle for direct access to psychiatric care services. The pandemic generates the urgent need for integrating technology into innovative models of mental healthcare. In this paper we discuss the potential role of telepsychiatry and other cutting‐edge technologies in the management of mental health assistance. We narratively review the literature to examine advantages and risks related to the extensive application of these new therapeutic settings, along with the possible limitations and ethical concerns. Telemental health services may be particularly feasible and appropriate for the support of patients, family members and health‐care providers during this COVID‐19 pandemic. The integration of telepsychiatry with other technological innovations (e.g., mobile apps, virtual reality, big data and artificial intelligence) opens up interesting future perspectives for the improvement of mental health assistance. Telepsychiatry is a promising and growing way to deliver mental health services but is still underused. The COVID‐19 pandemic may serve as an opportunity to introduce and promote, among numerous mental health professionals, the knowledge of the possibilities offered by the digital era.

Background: Panic of the disease and the associated concerns can lower the quality of life and physical performance. As long as the COVID-19 pandemic is ever on the rise, the psychological pandemic of the disease is on the rise, too. The high prevalence of COVID-19 has further increased physicians' work pressure. Patients' needs are not met adequately by physicians. It seems essential to use aids to monitor patients' needs and serve them properly. Thus, in the present research, suggestions are made on how to evaluate patients' physical and psychological conditions during the treatment via a mobile application.Methods and Analysis: The present research is a randomized, two parallel-group, controlled trial. One-hundred-twelve inpatients diagnosed with the coronavirus will be assigned randomly to the control and intervention groups. In the intervention group, a mobile application will be provided to educate patients, establish two-way interactions between patients and care providers and record patients' symptoms. Those in the control group will receive the usual care. The primary outcome is the change to the depression anxiety stress scales-21 (DASS-21) score from the baseline to 2 weeks after discharge from hospital. It will be measured at the baseline, at the time of discharge, and two weeks later.Ethics and Dissemination: The Ethics committee of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences' approval date was 2020-04-19 with IR.MUMS.REC.1399.118 reference code. Thus far, participants' recruitment has not been completed and is scheduled to end in March 2021. The results will be disseminated in a peer-reviewed journal.Trial Registration: IRCT20170922036314N4 (https://www.irct.ir/trial/47383).

The end of a romantic relationship may impact an individual, one of which is low self-esteem that causes the individual to feel difficult, hesitant, and reluctant to start another relationship with a new partner. It also can affect the psychological well-being of the individual. Self-esteem is one crucial aspect of human development, in this case, in having a romantic relationship. Therefore, this study aims to develop an intervention program to help young adults improve their self-esteem and their ability to forgive after a breakup from a romantic relationship. This intervention was implemented online, once a week for eight weeks, to 8 participants, all-females with low self-esteem and difficulty forgiving after a romantic relationship break. The age was ranging between 20-25 years old. This study developed intervention based on Fennel's self-esteem intervention module and Worthington's forgiveness intervention module. Based on the results of Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Questionnaire (RSEQ) and Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS) scores, there are differences in scores among the participants before and after participating in group intervention sessions (the mean RSEQ increased by 8.5 points and mean HFS increased by 13.25 points). Besides, there are no significant differences in scores among the participants in the control group. It shows that this online group intervention with a CBT approach effectively helps the young female adults to improve self-esteem and the ability to forgive after a breakup from a romantic relationship. Furthermore, it works effectively during pandemic conditions when face-to-face meeting is not permitted.
