Abstract: This article is a response to the challenge with which Zachary Schrag concluded his article, 'The case against ethics review in social sciences' − that 'the burden of proof for its continuation rests on its defenders' (Schrag, 2011). This article acknowledges that there is substance in the charges he lays against some reviews of social sciences and that these are of sufficient quantity and seriousness to justify his challenge.
