Estimulação elétrica nervosa transcutânea no pósoperatório de cirurgia torácica

Abstract: TENS associated with pharmacological analgesia provides pain relief compared to the placebo TENS in postoperative thoracic surgery patients both approached by thoracotomy and sternotomy. In the sternotomy it also provides more effective pain relief compared to pharmacological analgesia alone, but has no significant effect on pulmonary function.

There have also been systematic reviews on the methodology of TENS [77,78].…”

“…A dedicated APS focuses on multimodal analgesia while minimizing the use of opioids and promotes alternative pain management strategies such as acupuncture [17], massage therapy [18,19], transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation [20,21], and even guided imagery [22]. The supportive evidence for these modalities has led to their acceptance by many institutions as part of the standard analgesic critical pathways.…”

“…In addition, manifestations such as crying, grumbling, shouting and protection of parts of the body should also be considered for such evaluation [19]. The knowledge and awareness of the health professionals regarding the pain reduce hospitalization time and costs, increasing customer satisfaction [10]. Having an expressive number of patients with pain, it is necessary to formulate and train routines that will not only help the nursing team, but also the whole multiprofessional team to reduce postoperative pain [7].…”
