Estimation of Serum Levels of C - reactive protein in Periodontitis Patients – An Observational Study

Abstract: Background: C-reactive protein (CRP) is an emerging prognostic biomarker in patients with periodontitis and cardiovascular disease. There is a proposed pathophysiological mechanism that links periodontitis with cardiovascular disease. Early detection of periodontitis patients with cardiovascular disease events helps in accurate diagnosis and better treatment plan. But there are limited studies in the literature on serum C- reactive protein levels in periodontitis patients. Aim: This observational study aimed t… Show more

“…[13] In case of hypothyroidism, heart ejects less amount of blood per heartbeat as it is unable to pump forcefully, this is because the heart muscles are weakened in both contraction and relaxation phase. [14] Diastolic dysfunction, bradycardia and pericardial effusion are some of the common manifestations of an untreated hypothyroidism. [15] On the other hand, tachycardia, widened pulse pressure, increased cardiac output, and decreased total peripheral resistance are manifestations of hyperthyroidism.…”
