Esthetic Rehabilitation of the Smile with No-Prep Porcelain Laminates and Partial Veneers

Abstract: Rehabilitation of patients with anterior conoid teeth may present a challenge for the clinician, especially when trying to mimic the nature with composite resins. This clinical report exemplifies how a patient with conoid upper lateral incisors was rehabilitated with minimally invasive adhesive restorations. Following diagnostic wax-up and cosmetic mock-up, no-prep veneers and ceramic fragments (partial veneers) were constructed with feldspathic porcelain. This restorative material presents excellent reproduct… Show more

“…This paper presents an alternative technique for minimally invasive diastema restoration with sectional veneers. The sectional veneer technique was introduced as a variation on the traditional ceramic veneer technique for highly esthetic veneer restoration with no need for tooth preparation [34,35]. However, despite the combination of excellent esthetics and no sacrifice of the tooth structure, ceramic sectional veneers have failed to enter the mainstream of general dentistry because of the technically demanding clinical procedure and the delicate laboratory fabrication process.…”

“…One of the novel approaches suggested for diastema closure is using porcelain sectional veneers (also called partial veneers), [18][19][20][21][22][23][24] which provide ceramic esthetics and do not require dental tissue preparation.…”

“…The porcelain sectional veneer has been suggested as an innovative ultra-conservative technique that covers only part of the tooth surface without any preparation to be made and has the esthetic appearance of the ceramic laminate veneer. [18][19][20][21][22][23][24] This paper aimed to study the mechanical aspects of porcelain sectional veneers by means of a three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis and by comparing the maximum von Mises stress with porcelain flexural strength in order to predict the prognosis of such restorations.…”
