ERK1/2 phosphorylation is involved in the antidepressant-like action of 2,5-diphenyl-3-(4-fluorophenylseleno)-selenophene in mice

Abstract: a b s t r a c tWe investigated the antidepressant-like action of 5 compounds belonging to the selenophene class. The involvement of ERK and CREB activation in this action was also demonstrated. In the experiment 1, timecourse and dose-response effect of H-DPS, CH 3 -DPS, Cl-DPS, F-DPS and CF 3 -DPS were accompanied in the mouse forced swimming test (FST). Firstly, animals received compounds at a dose of 50 mg/kg, by intragastric (i.g.) route, at different times (15-240 min) before test. Results showed that the… Show more

“…Rats undergoing long-term corticosterone treatment showed decreased phosphorylation of ErK1/2 in the hippocampus, suggesting a possible role of ErK1/ErK2 in stress and depression (Gourley et al, 2008;Gai et al, 2014;Leem et al, 2014;Wang et al, 2014). Moreover, Shp-2 was found to play an important role in microglial activation.…”

“…In this context, selenophenes and their derivatives have been widely studied due to their intrinsic biological activity [22], such as antidepressant [23][24][25][26][27][28], antioxidant [29][30][31][32][33][34][35], anticonvulsant [36,37], antibacterial [38], antitumor [39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46][47], antinociceptive [48], hepatoprotective [49,50] and antiapoptotic agents [51]. Besides, they have also played an important role in the materials science field, being used to build organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) [52][53][54][55][56][57][58], organic field effect transistors (OFETs) [59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68]…”
