As disciplinas de projeto (PJ) têm papel fundamental nos cursos superiores de arquitetura, visto que possuem metodologia de ensino peculiar e constituem boa parte de suas grades curriculares. Contudo, PJ também é ofertado em contextos acadêmicos diversos da arquitetura. Neste sentido questiona-se: Como PJ é ministrada? A didática tradicional da arquitetura seria adequada noutro contexto? Este trabalho objetiva responder tais questões, aferindo teoria e prática docentes no ensino de projeto fora da escola de arquitetura. Para tanto, elaborou-se um estudo qualitativo de observação participante, complementado por uma análise documental. A fundamentação teórica sobre o tema baseou-se em autores como: Reis, (2002), Schon (2007), Vidigal (2010), Kowaltowski et al (2011), Lawson (2011), Riza et al (2012) dentre outros. A percepção de uma lacuna na literatura sobre o tema e de uma discrepância entre prática e teoria, além de novos questionamentos, revelaram a importância de estudos a respeito, visto que o ensino de PJ em conjunturas distintas se mostrou fato comum na prática, mas pouco discutido pela academia.
