Enhancement in Mechanical, Thermal, and Dielectric Properties of Functionalized Graphene Oxide Reinforced Epoxy Composites

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The present work has the objective of fabricating graphene oxide (GO) and amine-functionalized graphene oxide (F-GO) reinforced epoxy composites using the casting method. Epoxy resin was dispersed separately with GO (0.5 wt%) and F-GO (0.5 and 1 wt%), and then the epoxy resin mixture cured with triethylenetetraamine at room temperature. The synthesized GO and F-GO were characterized by FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. The interfacial interaction of Si in the composite was studied by XPS. The formation of… Show more

“…According to Table , toughness and elongation are increased to a greater extent in CNPG‐reinforced nanocomposites than those in NPG‐loaded nanocomposites at each content. This could be due to the chemical reactions of carboxylic groups with epoxies, simultaneously inducing a better interaction of functional groups with epoxy bonds and an interference in the curing process of epoxy resin; it interestingly culminated in the toughness enhancement of the nanocomposites …”

“…Incorporation of nanomaterials into polymer composites has drawn tremendous attention as an efficient and cost‐effective method for improving properties in the past few decades . In addition, as there is a growing demand in industry for polymeric nanocomposites, particularly epoxy‐based ones, due to their potential applications, reinforcing their properties has become an essential issue .…”
