The article deals with the issue of restoration and care of cultural heritage buildings in the Czech Republic. The content is focused mainly on the topic of valuation of construction works. Obtaining quality documents is very important for planning reconstruction and maintenance works on a building of cultural heritage. Proper and timely maintenance work is the key to maintaining the value of the building and increasing its viability. The tool for assessing the economic sustainability of an immovable cultural heritage is a life cycle cost analysis carried out on the basis of relevant input data on the technical parameters of the building, structural elements and equipment, the time period of the occurrence of costs related to them. The analysis becomes an important basis for decision-making by the owner, the designer and the future user on choosing the optimal variant of the technical solution for restoration, also with regard to ecological aspects, cultural and historical value and long-term economic consequences.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to test the modulating role and threshold of governance quality in the cost of living–energy poverty nexus.Design/methodology/approachTwo-step System Generalized Methods of Moment empirical model with linear interaction between cost of living and governance quality was estimated. This study used data on 40 African countries over 20 years (2000–2019).FindingsThe paper shows that the conditional effect of inflation on energy poverty is negative. Thus, governance quality acts as a moderator on the relationship between inflation and energy poverty beyond a threshold. The study's principal practical implication is that governance quality reverses inflation's positive unconditional effect on energy poverty, and governance quality may be improved beyond specific policy-defined thresholds to achieve the desired goal of lowering energy poverty. Nonetheless, governance quality at initial stages would not drive the needed reduction in energy poverty unless it goes beyond the threshold of 0.03, 0.02 and 0.07.Research limitations/implicationsThis study recommends that policymakers should initiate policies that would ensure increased access to clean energy.Originality/valueThis study's main contributions are that the authors estimated the threshold beyond which governance quality reverses the adverse impact of inflation on energy poverty. Further, the authors have shown that governance quality is a catalyst to reduce energy poverty.

Sustainability of electricity prices hold an important part of the family budget, business operational costs, and vitality of the economy. Currently, multinational corporations are considered the main users of electricity and other energy recourses. For this purpose, we analyze the sustainability of electricity price and their impact equity stocks in the PX Index. The PX Index, which originates from Prague Stock Exchange is generally composed of firms in the financial and energy sector. This paper as well tries to predict the performance of these two variables in the 12 months ahead. The data cover the period from 1995 to 2022 standing on the monthly observations. The Vector Error Correction Model was used to detect the effect that electricity prices maintain on the PX Index. The estimated forecasts were conducted in the R program using Facebook Prophet and Auto ARIMA Model. The results indicate that nonsustainability of electricity prices negatively affect the equity stocks listed on the PX Index. Regarding predictions, the PX Index is expected to stay at almost the same levels while electricity prices increase. The results provide modest indications for investors, government, and regulators on the performance of these two indicators 12 periods ahead. Additionally, it is the first attempt to analyze the relationship between electricity prices and the equity markets since the liberalization of the Czech economy.
