Abstract: Für die Beurteilung der Prognose einer größeren Thoraxoperation ist die Kenntnis der postoperativen Verhaltungsweise des Herzens von besonderer Bedeutung. Die Angabe Barthels, wonach die Mehrzahl der letal verlaufenden Lob-und Pneumonektomien auf eine cardio-vasculäre Insuffizienz zurückzuführen ist, weist auf eine besondere Gefährdung des Herzens durch den umfangreichen operativen Eingriff hin.
