Abstract: AbstractA simple mathematical formalism is considered for the description of spontaneous oscillations in electrochemical systems. Emphasis is on the modelling of "cathodic" oscillators, i.e. those that involve a metal ion reduction which displays a potential-dependent catalysis or inhibition, resulting in a negative (differential) impedance.
