Electrochemical copolymerization of thiophene and aniline

Abstract: In this study homopolymer, copolymer, and composites of aniline and thiophene were synthesized in nitrogen atmosphere by using TEATFB (Tetraethyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate) and Lithium perchlorate as supporting electrolytes. In order to analyze their structure and characteristics, IR spectrums of the samples were taken and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was applied. Also, the samples were photographed under scanning electron microscope (SEM) for microstructure analysis and their electrochemical properties w… Show more

“…An overall look at the tabulated conductivity values reveals that the conductivities of the polymer samples tended to change according to the order of synthesis. Similar results were observed for the polyaniline/polypyrrole and polyaniline/polythiophene systems in previous electrochemical studies 20, 22…”

“…Similar results were observed for the polyaniline/polypyrrole and polyaniline/polythiophene systems in previous electrochemical studies. 20,22 Magnetic susceptibility data of the polymers shifted to positive values with an increasing amount of PFu. This shows that polaron groups in composite structure increase with an increasing amount of PFu.…”

“…24 The syntheses of some electroactive copolymers have been reported. [25][26][27][28][29] Those involving the copolymerization of Ani and Py are reported elsewhere. 30,31 Copolymerization of a pair of monomers will lead to an increase in the number of conducting polymers that can be made from the same set of monomers.…”
