Electroanalytical Application of Amine‐grafted Attapulgite to the Sensitive Quantification of the Bioactive Compound Mangiferin

Abstract: A glassy carbon electrode (GCE) coated with a thin film of organoattapulgite was used for the voltammetric detection and quantification of mangiferin (MG), a bioactive xanthone with several therapeutic properties. The used modified attapulgite was prepared by surface grafting of [3‐(2‐aminoethylamino)propyl]trimethoxysilane. The grafted clay was characterised by SEM, CHN elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy and XRD techniques. The electrochemical behaviour of MG was first investigated on bare GCE by cyclic vo… Show more

“…The peak position is same at all three electrodes. This is different from the electrochemical behaviour of MG in the same medium at an amine-grafted attapulgite modified electrode observed by Tchieno et al [20]. This is prove that the peak current increase observed at CPE/H and CPE/H-polyQ 22 ( respectively).…”

“…Thus, chemically modified electrodes (CMEs) represent one of the main areas of electrochemistry research with many applications including analytical chemistry [13,14], solar energy conversion [15,16], electrochromic display devices [17] and molecular electronic devices [18]. In the analytical field, different types of conductive materials were used to develop CMEs: polymers [19,20], mesoporous silicate films [21,22], nanoparticles [23] and clay minerals [9,[24][25][26][27]. Clay-modified electrodes have distinct advantages over conventional electrodes in many areas of application, such as electrocatalysis, electrochemical sensors and preconcentration electroanalysis.…”

“…Attapulgite (ATP), a hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate, possessed a unique fibrous morphology. , Additionally, ATP displayed advantages of low cost, large storage, environmentally friendly property, and thus was widely used in water treatment, painting, sensor, and carrier. In the past few decades, ATP and organically modified ATP were used as carriers for slow release pesticides mainly through adsorption . In our previous work, ATP with nano networks structure was used as a carrier to increase the adhesion ability of pesticide on crop leaf surface and thus reduce the migration and loss. , However, these prepared ATP–pesticide systems could not respond to external stimulus (pH, temperature, light and so on) and thus lacked controlled-release property.…”
