Electricity production scheduling under uncertainty: Max social welfare vs. min emission vs. max renewable production

Abstract: Some areas in China are facing pressing air pollution problems. Measures from the power sector can be taken to cope with air pollution issues, including reducing emission levels of thermal units and integrating wind and solar power. Social welfare, emission, and renewable integration are three major concerns in modern power system operations. This paper describes three stochastic scheduling models aiming at maximizing social welfare (SW), minimizing emission (EM) and maximizing renewable production (RE).A mult… Show more

“…For instance, investments in Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) for cleaner electricity production have also been related to EV integration into the grid. In particular, RES such as solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind create other challenges, due to their power generation uncertainties and fluctuations, as well as their high installation costs [16,17].…”

“…The first is usually rather difficult in emerging economies due to the increasing commercial demand and extensive character of industrialization [1]. Moreover, demand grows with the increase in population and global economic growth [2][3][4][5], while the development of RES seems to be a promising stream [6].…”
