Electrical Vehicles: Current State of the Art, Future Challenges, and Perspectives

Abstract: The goal of the study presented in this article is to provide a general overview of the various aspects related to electric vehicles (EVs), along with all associated emerging challenges and perspectives. In this context, the basic types of EVs and the corresponding charging technologies are analyzed. Since EVs are expected to be a key component of future smart electrical grids (SEG), connection to the grid issues, along with advanced charging techniques (i.e., wireless power transfer), are analyzed as well. To… Show more

“…The era of 5G networks coincides with scientific progress in other related fields, such as the development of smart electric grids (SEGs). In this framework, bandwidth demanding and zero latency applications will be deployed and supported, such as the use of Autonomous Vehicles [84,85]. The vision for AVs is to be able to navigate without human interaction and perform additional related tasks, such as dynamic update of city maps and battery charging.…”

“…Table 4, indicates the heat energy potential only from the water. If other potential can be also identified (air) [17], then a higher number in terms of energy is believed to be attainable. This approach could go further and spread over to other European cities with a similar setup (presence of water in their subway system).…”

“…Electric vehicles, or hybrid plug-in vehicles, or hybrid vehicles (which are mainly supplied by battery) are a promising solution. Therefore, the electric vehicles (e-vehicle, EVs) industries have designed and developed the technology to progress the extension of EVs [1][2][3]. A lot of research works have been conducted on future vehicle technology [1][2][3].…”
