The overwhelming majority of sick old people are cared for by their relatives (Olson, 1993;Shi, 1994), as are the majority of younger mentally ill adults (Phillips, 1993;Xiang et al, 1994). There is evidence that old people who receive social support from younger relatives enjoy improved health (Liu et al, 1995).…”
