Abstract:Prostanoids (prostaglandins, prostacyclin, and thromboxane) are bioactive lipids, members of the eicosanoid class of compounds, derived from arachidonic acid (AA). They are involved in controlling homeostatic and pathophysiological processes. Their biosynthesis is the result of the coordinated actions of several enzymes.
