Efficient Persistent Room Temperature Phosphorescence in Organic Amorphous Materials under Ambient Conditions

Abstract: excitation beam still remained after the second scan. Demonstrations of effi cient persistent RTP in pure organic host-guest fi lms showing other phosphorescence colors are shown in Supporting Information Movies S1 to S4. In addition to long RTP lifetimes (a few seconds), these materials have RTP quantum effi ciencies of > 10% for RGB RTP in air.www.afm-journal.de www.MaterialsViews.com wileyonlinelibrary.com

“…Similar k nr (9.55 Â 10 À1 s À1 of 7-AMCum@PAA and 9.57 Â 10 À1 s À1 of 7-DEAMCum@PAA) but higher k p (4.49 Â 10 À1 s À1 ) of 7-DEAMCum@PAA rendered its high f p (Table 1). Consistent with the report by Hirata et al, 52,53 introducing secondary amino substituents can significantly improve k p without a large increase of k nr . Thus, the high f p value of 7-DEAMCum@PAA was ascribed to the presence of a secondary amino group.…”

“…The incorporation of F and S atoms results in delocalized T 1 , which will ultimately lead to the annihilation of excitons by molecular vibrations or rotations. Besides, for phosphorescence emission, persistent lifetime is accompanied with low efficiency . This is consistent with the equation of phosphorescence lifetime: τ = c 3 /[2(Δ E ) 2 · f ].…”
