Efficacy of biotechnologically derived product in counteracting ill effects of aflatoxins in broiler chicken

Abstract: A preliminary in-vitro aflatoxin adsorption study was conducted, and it was found that, the degradability of aflatoxin (AF) by the biotechnologically derived product (BTP) was similar to that of hydrated sodium calcium allumino-sillicate (HSCAS) and mannan ologosachharide (MOS). Further, an in-vivo trial was undertaken to assess BTP over HSCAS in broiler chicken fed diet containing aflatoxin (AF) with experimental design: T1-basal diet; T2-250 ppb of AF; T3-AF 250 ppb with HSCAS at 1 kg/ton; T4 and T5-AF 250 p… Show more

“…Similar findings that the aflatoxicosis in broiler increased SGOT level were reported by Motawe et al (2014) and Kumar et al (2016). The increased level of serum enzyme might be due to hepatic degeneration and subsequent leakage of this enzyme to the blood stream (Oguz et al, 2002).…”

“…The higher level of this enzyme was also reported by Kana et al (2014) and Kumar et al (2016). The explanation for higher SGOT level in the blood stream of aflatoxicated broilers also holds good for high SGPT levels.…”

“…The AFB1 decreased contents of Hb and C3bRR and ICR increased the number of RBCs and impaired the erythrocyte functions (Tingting et al, 2015). The significant changes in serum biochemical and haematological parameters are seen in aflatoxicated broiler chickens (Kumar et al, 2016). Affected birds show poor vaccine response and low antibody titre, as both cellular and humoral immunities are affected (Corrier, 1991).…”
