“…This worsens the course of TB, resulting in the subsequent loss of a part or even the whole organ. All this complicates the penetration of oral ATD in the focus of tuberculous inflammation [4,30]. Intravenous chemotherapy increases the concentration of ATD in the blood in a short period of time, ensures a rapid access of these drugs to the focus of tuberculous inflammation and the use of solutions of intravenous ATD provides faster detoxication in patients with TB [15,22].…”

“…The most prominent achievements of phthisiology are associated with the development of antimycobacterial therapy. Performance targets for further improvement of the newly diagnosed pulmonary TB treatment determine not only the increasing of destructions closure frequency and negation of sputum, but also the use of therapies www.journals.viamedica.pl that can achieve sustainable results within shorter time without forming large residual changes in the lungs [3][4][5].…”

“…Quercetin and polyvinylpyrrolidone (QP) are capillary stabilizing agents and antioxidants with immunomodulatory activities. It can promote the growth of endothelial cells, induce the activation of microcirculation in inflammation sites, and reduce inflammation and blood coagulation ( Butov et al., 2016 ). QP combined with chemotherapy to treat patients with APTB rapidly improved the clinical symptoms and signs, significantly reduced the sputum bacteria and pulmonary cavity, increased lesion absorption, decreased expression of IL-1β and TNF-α with a substantial increase in IL-4, as well as an increase in nitric oxide (NO) at the inflammatory site with no side effects, suggesting that QP might be a new potential immunotherapy ( Butov et al., 2016 ).…”

“…erefore, Qt formula could be recommended for further clinical study for COVID-19 and other viral pulmonary infections [114]. In patients with newly diagnosed destructive pulmonary tuberculosis, treatment with Qt and polyvinylpyrrolidone QP (5 g in 100 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride solution intravenously once a day for 10 days) resulted in quick reduction of the disease manifestation [115]. e reviewed papers indicated the effect of the extracts, essential oil, and the constituents of onion, mainly Qt, on viral, microbial, parasitic, and fungal infections in the lung.…”
