“…Aunque la posibilidad de disponer de marcadores de aquellos genes de interés que se desean introducir en una población facilita el proceso de introgresión, los elevados costos derivados de los intervalos prolongados entre generaciones y, con más frecuencia, la reticencia de los criadores de una determinada raza a introducir genomas provenientes de otras, no hacen muy extensa la lista de ejemplos de introgresión asistida por marcadores, limitándose a ejemplos en los genes que se incorporan tienen un efecto grande. Por citar dos ejemplos, uno en porcinos cuando se introdujo el alelo normal del gen Hal en la raza Pietrain (Hanset et al, 1995), y el otro se refiere a la introducción en ovinos del gen FecB (Booroola) en una raza de aptitud lechera (Gootwine et al, 1998). Curiosamente no se tiene referencia de ningún programa de introgresión del gen de la miostatina en razas bovinas a pesar de su enorme influencia sobre gran número de caracteres de interés en esta especie, sobre todo en caracteres relacionados con la calidad de carne y la canal (Tabla 7).…”
