Objectives: This study evaluated the biological and pharmacological activities of Momordica cochinchinensis fruit methanolic extract (MCME). Methods: The extract was analyzed for its phytochemical constituents and tested for toxicity and antimicrobial properties. The hypoglycemic activity was also evaluated in hyperglycemic mice. Findings: The results showed that the extract contained important phytochemical constituents and exhibited antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and E. coli. The extract was found to contain important phytochemical constituents, including saponins, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds. In a brine shrimp toxicity assay, the extract exhibited toxicity activity, with an LC50 mortality rate of 10 µg/mL after 24 hours. Additionally, in hyperglycemic mice, the extract was found to be more efficient in hypoglycemic activity than the positive control, Metformin, with a decrease in blood glucose levels of 64.8% and 54.2%, respectively, after 24 hours of treatment. Nove lty: This study serves as the first unprecedented investigation of the hypoglycemic effect of MCME including novel antibacterial activity against E. coli.
