Abstract: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a major cause of cardiac damage following various pathological processes, such as free radical damage and cell apoptosis. This study aims to investigate whether microRNA-292-5p (miR-292-5p) protects against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) via the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-α/-γ signaling pathway in myocardial IRI mice models. Mouse models of myocardial IRI were established. Adult male C57BL/6 mice were divided into different groups. The h… Show more

“…Recently, a miR-292-5p inhibitor was shown to protect against myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury through activation of the peroxisomeproliferator-activated receptor signaling pathway. 23 Also, miR-292-3p was noted to be one of the most abundant miRNAs in syncytial-exosome-enriched extracellular vesicles. 24 Embryonic stem cells have been reported to package miR-291-3p into exosomes that demonstrate anti-senescence activity upon transfer to human dermal fibroblasts, thereby accelerating the excisional skin wound-healing process in aged mice.…”

“…caspase-1-mediated pyroptosis refers to a process that takes place in inflammasomes but is activated by caspase-1 (21). The specific blocking of the nlrP3 inflammasome with aSc markedly reduces cardiomyocyte death and improves cardiac function, thus indicating that NLRP3 inflammasomes are involved in the early stages of ventricular remodeling following MI (22)(23)(24).…”

“…miRNAs participate in many biological processes, such as cell apoptosis, cell differentiation and cell development (10). More and more evidence has indicated that several miRNAs are expressed abnormally during myocardial I/R injury, suggesting the involvement of miRNAs in myocardial I/R injury development (1113). Furthermore, the inhibition of mitochondria-mediated apoptosis to reduce cardiomyocyte apoptosis is considered to be an important mechanism (14,15).…”
