Effects of Liquid Phase Nano Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Camphor Tree

Abstract: It is of great significance to popularize and apply nanotechnology in forest plantations for the high-quality development of such areas. Camphor trees have good ecological and environmental benefits and are economic, which makes them worthy of widespread popularization and promotion. In this paper, we successfully synthesized bulk and rod-like TiO2 powder and used it to study the influence of camphor seed germination and seedling growth. The germination rate, germination potential, germination index activity i… Show more

“…These effects highlighted the physiological role of nTiO 2 in increasing light harvesting, activation of photosynthesis, and stimulation of protein and pigment content [49]. Considering our results and other documented results, the application of nTiO 2 at different concentrations increased total biomass, photosynthetic pigments, plant growth, and plant performance under stress compared to untreated plants [29,43,49,50] (Figures 1-3).…”

“…Pishtaz) on moistened paper and noted that germination was promoted [ 9 ]. Camphor tree seed germination was also promoted by the application of TiO 2 -NPs [ 10 ]. CeO 2 -NPs (25 and 50 nm) could promote both monocot ( Holcus lanatus ) and dicot ( Diplotaxis tenuifolia ) seed germination [ 11 ].…”

“…88 For example, bulk and rod-like Ti NPs treatment of camphor seeds significantly enhances superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) activity in the seedlings. 90 Treatment of rice and corn seeds with the nanoscale micronutrient α-Fe 2 O 3 in the range of 15-22 nm can increase levels of SOD and CAT. 91 NMs can also regulate hormone content in seeds during germination.…”
