“…55: 205-212 (May 1975) Research and experience have shown that the optimal soil pH and lime requirements of organic soils are different from mineral soils, yet satisfactory practical definitions of these properties are still wanting. Many workers found that crop yields were usually increased with the application of low levels of limestone, though higher rates tended to decrease yields (Nygard 1954;Jasmin and Heeney 1962, 196l;Okruzko et al 1962Maclean et al 1967Sorteberg 1963 Lawton and Davis 1956; Sorteberg and Dev 1964; and Hamilton and Bernier 1973 (CaSOn'2HrO) were compared in order to separate any pH-Ca interaction.
