“…Our article conducted subgroup analysis based on the area, which showed differentiation in the prevalence and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in rheumatism group. Hypertension was generally considered to be related to the prognosis of severe COVID-19 [ 2 , 6 , 49 ], and a new study denies it [ 50 ]. The incomplete coincidence of conclusions between studies may also be due to the following: the lag and deviation in voluntary data reporting and the lack of detailed information on the countries or continents from which these data are sourced.…”

“…In several other studies, the rate of this infection was found to be higher in men than in women [ 87 , 88 ]. Similarly, the male gender comprised the majority of hospitalized patients affected by COVID-19 [ 89 , 90 ]. Moreover, among the hypertensive population with COVID-19, most patients have been reported to be males [ 89 , 90 ].…”

“…So we drew the DAG diagram by taking age, eGFR and the compound endpoint as the main factors. Diabetes and hypertension can aggravate the progression of CKD and also lead to poor prognosis in patients with COVID-19 19 , 20 . So diabetes and hypertension are important confounding factors.…”
