Effects of feeding metabolite combinations from lactobacillus plantarum on plasma and breast meat lipids in Broiler Chickens

Abstract: The effects of feeding different doses of metabolite combination of L. plantarum RS5, RI11, RG14 and RG11 strains (Com3456) on cholesterol reduction in plasma and breast meat in broiler chickens and the possible mechanism was studied. A total of 504 male Ross broilers were grouped into 7 treatments and offered with different diets: (i) standard corn-soybean based diet (-ve control); (ii) standard cornsoybean based diet + neomycin and oxytetracycline (+ve control); (iii) standard corn-soybean based diet + 0.1% … Show more

“…Cholesterol is an important molecule that plays a vital role in membrane structure, as well as being a precursor for the synthesis of molecules such as steroid hormones, vitamin D and bile acids (Dessi & Batetta, 2003;Loh et al, 2013). On the other hand, coronary heart disease and arteriosclerosis are strongly related to the dietary intake of cholesterol (Sacks, 2002).…”

“…Increased lactic acid bacteria populations have been reported following supplementation of broiler and layer feeds with four combinations of L. plantarum -derived metabolites [32,42]. The main reason for such an effect is that postbiotics have the capacity to promote the growth of protective bacteria ( Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium ) while hindering the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the gut epithelium [83]. The effect is enhanced following a reduction in the intestinal and faecal pH induced by metabolites from L. plantarum [33].…”

“…Pathogen Free Chickens quality, including Clostridium butyricum in pigs (Meng et al, 2010) and Bacillus coagulans , Bacillus subtilis (Fan et al, 2013;Park and Kim, 2014), Enterococcus faecium (Zheng et al, 2014), L. plantarum (Loh et al, 2013) and Rhodopseudomonas palustris (Xu et al, 2014) in chickens. These results showed a lot of different indicators of the effects of probiotics on meat quality (Suo et al, 2012).…”
