“…Thus, the MWCNTs released serve as a solid lubricant to reduce the friction of the composite [15−19]. Moreover, the MWCNTs on the surface can not only serve as spacers to prevent the direct contact between the steel ball and composite but also slide or roll between the rubbing surfaces [26]. Therefore, the combined lubricating effects of the both wax lubricant and MWCNTs greatly reduce the friction of the epoxy composite even with only 0.5 wt% microcapsules.…”

“…The hybrids presented a thermal stability of about 300°C, relatively high values compared with those of other polymeric and hybrid materials [18,22]. This advantageous property comes from the highly cross-linked structure provided by the curing agent (DETA) combined with the high polycondensation degree of the silica phase, as revealed by 29 Si NMR.…”

“…An Agilent Technologies Model 5500 atomic force microscope was used to obtain AFM topography images, in tapping mode, with 1 × 1 μm, of the hybrid coatings deposited on the metallic substrates. 29 Si nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 29 Si-NMR) measurements of the hybrid powders were performed in a 300-MHz Varian Inova spectrometer, using a Larmor frequency of 59.59 Hz and tetramethyl silane (TMS) as an external standard. The CasaXPS processing software was used for spectral deconvolution using Gauss profiles.…”

“…Therefore, the fabrication of conductive polymer matrix composites co-incorporated with multiwalled CNTs (MWCNTs) and silicon dioxide microparticles (SiO 2 -MPs) is particularly interesting, because the co-incorporation of MWCNTs and SiO 2 -MPs would be able to enhance the electrical networks formed by MWCNTs within the polymer matrix, which has not been reported yet. In addition, a high wear resistance of conductive polymer matrix composites is necessary for electronic devices made from them, in which worn composites can lead to an early failure of the devices [7][8][9]. Since the electrical conductivity and wear resistance of polymer matrix composites can be altered by the type, shape, dispersion and content of their fillers, a good understanding of a correlation between co-incorporation of MWCNTs and SiO 2 -MPs in polymer matrix composites and their electrical and tribological properties is important for their successful applications.…”
